RAA278830 LVDS solution achieves ISO 26262 compliance for advanced video diagnostic capabilities in the Renesas industry
On March 27, 2025, Beijing, China - Renesas Electronics (TSE: 6723), a global semiconductor solution provider, announced today the launch of the RAA278830 video diagnostic bridge IC. As a highly integrated dual channel low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) LCD video processor, this new IC integrates multiple core functions required for ISO 26262 standard ASIL B-level in car display systems, suitable for key application scenarios such as head up display systems (HUD), digital instrument panels, electronic rearview mirrors (CMS), and streaming rearview mirrors.
With the increasing dependence of automotive safety systems on display systems, presenting clear and error free images to drivers has become crucial. Frame loss, image freezing, and even incorrect warning icons can seriously endanger driving safety. RAA278830 has built-in functional safety features that effectively prevent any image damage issues by monitoring signal integrity and video content itself. Its internal diagnostic and measurement engine can detect video freezing, color abnormalities, image damage or destruction, as well as flickering, shaking, and images that may obstruct the driver's road vision (for HUD systems).
Renesas' expertise in the field of in car video signal processing
Renesas has long been committed to providing excellent video signal processing solutions for the automotive electronics application market. In addition to standard analog video decoders, Renesas has also launched the award-winning Automotive HD Link (AHL) product family, which supports the transmission of high-resolution images through low-cost cables and connectors. The release of RAA278830 further expands the widely used Renesas integrated LCD controller product line.
