MALVERN, Pennsylvania, USA, Shanghai, China - April 8, 2025- Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced that its Optoelectronic Products division has launched the industry-leading RGBIR color sensor, VEML6046X00, which complies with the AEC-Q100 standard. Vishay Semiconductors VEML6046X00 integrates high-sensitivity photodiodes, low-noise amplifiers, and 16 bit analog-to-digital converters in a 2.67 mm x 2.45 mm miniature opaque surface mount package, with a height of only 0.6 mm.

The recently released automotive grade components have independent red, green, blue, and infrared (IR) channels, which can calculate color temperature and achieve white balance on the display. The green channel of VEML6046X00 has a spectral sensitivity close to that of the human eye, ensuring highly accurate measurements, while the infrared channel helps to maintain stable output over a wide range of light sources. The sensor has an ambient light detection range of 0 lx to 176 klx, is unsaturated under sunlight, and has a resolution of up to 0.0053 lx/ct. It can be placed on the back of a dark lens.

The VEML6046X00 has a working temperature of up to+110 ° C and can be used for automotive display backlight control, information entertainment systems, rearview mirror dimming, interior lighting control systems, head up displays, color recognition, CCT measurement, ambient lighting, and laser headlight monitoring. The sensor supports an easy-to-use I2C bus communication interface for these applications and has interrupt functionality.

The power supply voltage of VEML6046X00 is 2.5 V to 3.6 V, the I2C bus voltage is 1.7 V to 3.6 V, and the power consumption in turn off mode is only 0.5 μ A (typical value). The device complies with RoHS and Vishay green standards, is halogen-free, and has a moisture sensitivity level of J-STD-020E standard 2a. It is stored in the workshop for four weeks.

The new RGBIR color sensor can now provide samples and has achieved mass production, with a supply cycle of 16 weeks.
