As one of the largest wind power converter suppliers in China, Hewang Electric has adopted a novel approach to its wind power solution: the product uses silicon carbide (SiC) devices and high reliability packaging technology, achieving a 38% increase in power density and a high switching frequency of up to 6 kHz, significantly improving efficiency and reliability. The collaboration between Wolfspeed and Hewang Electric is expected to accelerate the development of next-generation wind power solutions in the global market.
Wolfspeed's silicon carbide solutions are helping drive the transition towards a more sustainable and cost-effective next-generation energy system. Wolfspeed's 2.3 kV LM Pack module provides significant system advantages, including simplified system design, improved efficiency, increased power density, and improved reliability - key factors that help reduce overall system costs for large-scale wind power applications and provide excellent performance. The 2.3 kV LM Pack module is expected to achieve commercial mass production and supply in early 2026.
The collaboration between Wolfspeed and Hewang Electric marks a key milestone in the sustained development of the wind power industry, paving the way for cleaner and more efficient energy solutions worldwide.
John Perry, Vice President and General Manager of Medium Voltage and High Voltage Products at Wolfspeed, said, "We are pleased to collaborate with Hewang Electric, a recognized leader in the renewable energy industry. Wolfspeed's 2.3 kV LM Pack module perfectly meets the growing demand for higher voltage, higher current, and more efficient systems in the wind power industry. This collaboration not only consolidates Wolfspeed's position as a trusted long-term supplier of silicon carbide, but also helps meet the growing global demand for renewable energy solutions. ”
Hewang Electric, headquartered in Shenzhen, China, has recently been selected as a Tier 1 photovoltaic inverter manufacturer by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), a globally renowned energy research institution. Only seven companies in the world have successfully entered the first tier, which confirms the global influence and competitiveness of Hewang Electric in the photovoltaic field.
Wang Yan, Vice General Manager and General Manager of the Wind Power Division of Hewang Electric, said: "Hewang Electric is very pleased to cooperate with Wolfspeed to enhance the performance of our wind power converters with Wolfspeed's world-class silicon carbide technology. By adopting Wolfspeed's advanced 2.3 kV LM Pack module, we are taking an important step towards providing efficient, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for the wind power industry
